My Life in Runcorn: How Community, Confidence and Fitness Came Together

Runcorn Bridge

Starting Over

My life in Runcorn wasn’t exactly planned. When I moved to Runcorn in 2018, I didn’t know a single person. I actually drew circles on a map to decide where I was going to live!
Fresh from a break-up and starting over, it felt a little strange at first. The first place I found comfort in was PureGym. I had already been a member before, and stepping back into that familiar environment made a huge difference. It wasn’t just about the workouts. It was the friendly faces, the supportive energy and the sense of belonging that quickly made Runcorn feel like home.

Finding My Feet

One of the things I love most about Runcorn is its community feel.
PureGym Runcorn has always been more than just a gym to me. It is a space where everyone, no matter their background or starting point, feels welcome. Beyond the gym walls, Runcorn has so much to offer for living an active, balanced life. I love being near the River Mersey, and Wigg Island is one of my favourite places to walk and clear my head. Me and my team have spent plenty of time there on walks, recharging and reconnecting outside of busy days.

Coffee and Community

And of course, no day is complete without a good coffee.
If you know, you know: Coffee Lab is the hidden gem of Runcorn. It might be attached to a service station, but it serves the best coffee around. It is a regular stop for me after a good training session or a walk by the river.

Building Strength and Confidence Through Training in Runcorn

Runcorn didn’t just become my home. It is where I found my confidence in fitness too.
During the pandemic, when everything felt uncertain, I started running more regularly, exploring places like Wigg Island to stay active. When classes returned, I jumped straight back into spin, one of my favourite ways to train. Training in Runcorn played a huge part in helping me build my strength and resilience. I first started spin classes at Northgate Arena in Chester, but it was at PureGym Runcorn where I truly locked it in.

Lessons From the Journey

In the years that followed, my work had me travelling up and down the country, but Runcorn was always home.
I loved visiting other PureGyms. London Wandsworth was a favourite. Some of the best spin classes I ever took were at Warrington Central, where I first saw instructors asking members what music they wanted for class. I loved that energy and connection. It is something I still bring into my coaching now.

A Place to Call Home

Today, Runcorn is not just where I live. It is where I coach, where I grow, and where I get to support others in building strength, confidence and balance in their own lives.
Whether it is through one-to-one training, online programmes or community walks with Club Evolve, I am proud to be part of a town that shows how powerful real support can be.

If you are looking for a personal trainer in Runcorn who understands what it means to start fresh, build strength and find your place, you are already closer than you think.
